Based on your workspace and user permissions, you can leave regular comments or annotated comments on any file you own or have access to.
Commenting on files
To leave a comment on any file type, select the comment bubble icon at the top right of the navigation bar in the single file view.
Add a comment into the comment input and hit enter on your keyboard. The user who uploaded this file and anyone who has access to it will get a notification that you have left a comment. Users with access can reply to your comments, leave their own comments, or mute the notifications at any time.
Manage notifications: Based on their user settings, users can receive email and/or in-workspace notifications when a comment is added.
To mute or unmute email and/or in-workspace notifications on only this file, click on the bell icon at the top of the comments area to turn them on or off.
Annotate an image or PDF
To add an annotated comment on an image or a PDF, click the annotation chat bubble in the chat panel to activate annotations. Click and drag over the area where you want to leave a comment. Add your comment to the comment tooltip and click enter on your keyboard.
Annotated comments will have a jump icon so you can jump to the comment on any page of the PDF at any time. Click the "jump to comment in document" icon to view where the comment was made.
Click the filter icon at the top of the comments area to view only annotated comments or only regular comments.
Commenting on video
To add an annotation to a specific point in a video, click the annotation chat bubble in the chat panel to activate annotations.
At the point in the video where you want to leave feedback, stop the video and click and drag to leave the comment. When you add your comment, you'll see an extra box for the duration. Here, you can select how many seconds you want your comment to appear on the screen when the video is playing. Click enter on your keyboard to post the comment.
You'll see a yellow line wherever an annotation has been made. You can get to the comment by clicking the line. or the jump-to icon in the chat panel.
