Creating Content Portals (previously Custom Pages)

Build beautiful destinations for your content that are public to anyone or restricted to workspace users and teams.

Written by Jessica

If you were previously using Custom Pages and need help migrating them to Custom Portals, please reach out to Stockpress through your workspace chat.

Content Portals are built from a flexible set of pre-styled sections. Some pull directly from your workspace, like Collections and File Feeds, while others let you add links to external videos, add your brand colors, custom fonts, standalone files, and more. Mix and match to create anything from a Brand Guide or simple landing page to a full Media Hub. Not sure where to start? Use one of our pre-built templates!

How to get started

Accessing Content Portals

Content Portals are available to Admin and Manager roles. Every workspace tier (even Free) includes one Content Portal. Need more? Upgrade to Premium for unlimited Content Portals.

Content Portals

Click Content Portals in your sidebar to access your current Content Portals and build new ones. Click the Create Content Portal button to create a new page.

Add a new Content Portal modal

From the Create modal, you can:

  • Name your page

  • Customize your URL (it will match your page name by default)

  • Select the page visibility; you can change this later.

    • Login required will make your page visible to anyone with a link, but to access any of the content, they will need a workspace login

    • Public means that your page, all of its Collections, and any of the content will be visible and downloadable by anyone with the link.

    • Landing page will allow your Content Portal to be visible, but a login will be required to access any of the content or sub-pages.

  • Select a page template; You can select one of our prebuilt templates, or build a page from scratch using a combination of pre-made sections.

Tip: Templates are a great place to start if you’re unsure what you’d like in your Content Portal, or you want help getting started. Even with a template selected, you can customize all sections, remove sections, and add new ones.

Custom Portal page settings

From a template or when creating a Content Portal from scratch, you can control your overall page settings from the Page Settings button in your header.

From the settings, you can edit your Content Portal name and URL.

Additional page settings include:

  • Page navigation (optional): Add link navigation to the header of your Content Portal with options to link to a File, Collection, external URL, or additional Content Portal.

  • Visibility: Public, Landing Page, or Login Required

    • Public is visible to anyone with the link. Files and Collections will have their own publicly available sub-pages to your Content Portal

    • Landing Page will allow for your Content Portal to be visible to anyone with the link, but in order to access the content or any sub-pages, a login to your workspace is required

    • Login Required will make your page redirect to the login screen if a user is not logged in and tries to access it.

  • Page type: Full width or with sidebar

    • Full width is the default and makes a standalone page separate from your workspace.

    • With sidebar adds the content of your Content Portal inside your workspace with the Stockpress sidebars on the left.

  • Header type: Transparent or Solid

    • Transparent is great for pages that will contain an image or Collection in the header.

    • Solid is the default and great for all-around pages.

  • Show search bar: Optionally hide the search bar on your Content Portal. The search will only work if pages are Login Required.

  • Accent color: By default, your workspace color will be applied as the accent color, but it can be overridden per page.

  • Primary and Secondary fonts

    • The primary font is used for all titles within each section.

    • The secondary font is used for sub-titles within each section.

  • Page background: You can choose from a solid or gradient background. By default, your page will have a white background.

Shared section settings

Most sections share a common set of controls, found in the section's settings panel.

Page settings section

From the section sidebar, you can adjust the:

  • Section Title / Subtitle — Add an optional title and subtitle to any section, regardless of its content. Useful for labeling a group of content (e.g., "Featured Products" above a Collection Slider).

  • Width (limited sections) — Choose whether the section spans the Full Width of the page or sits in a Container (constrained to your page's standard content width, with margins on either side).

  • Alignment — Set content to Left, Center, or Right aligned.

What sections can you use and how do they work?

All Content Portal sections are broken out into five sections. Layout, Typography, Media, Brand, and Other.

Layout sections:

Columns

Column section

Splits an area of the page into multiple columns, so you can organize other sections side by side rather than stacking them vertically. Use this as a container to arrange content like Headings, Buttons, or Files into a multi-column layout.

Available Column section settings include:

  • Column widths

  • Gap (spacing) between columns

  • Border: add a border around each column to create a boxed layout

  • Width: Full width or in the container of the page

Dividers

Divider sections

Add blank space or a divider line to break up your page design. Divider settings include:

  • Height (in pixels)

  • Border: enable a line or empty space

  • Width (Full width or container)

  • Border width (select the height of the border when selected)

  • Border color (select or paste a hex code)

  • Border position (top, middle, bottom)

Navigation

Content Portal in-page navigation

Add an in-page navigation to your Content Portal. You can link to a workspace file, Collection, an external URL, or another Content Portal page.

Additional seetings include:

  • View: Horizontal or vertical navigation

  • Alignment: Left, center, or right

  • Width: Container or full width

Typography sections

Heading

Heading section

With the heading section, you can add a heading and subheading anywhere on the page. Useful for introducing a new area of content or breaking up long pages with additional section labels. You can choose the alignment of heading sections: Left, Center, or Right.

CTA

Call to Action (CTA) section

Use a ready-made promotional block that comes with a title, subtitle, and button already built in. Ideal for driving visitors toward a specific action such as downloading a Collection, linking to another Custom Portal, linking to an external source, or opening a single file.

CTA section settings include:

  • Title/Description

  • Alignment: Left, Center, Right

  • Background image (optional): Set an image as the CTA background and choose the overlay opacity.

  • Text color: Set a custom color for the title and subtitle.

  • Primary button: Add button text and select your link location to a workspace Collection, file, external URL, or another Content Portal.

  • Secondary button (optional): Add button text and select your link location to a workspace Collection, file, external URL, or another Content Portal.

Button

Button section

Add a standalone button anywhere on your page when you want a call to action without the surrounding title and subtitle that come with the CTA section. Buttons can link to workspace Collections, files, external URLs, or other Content Portals.

Media sections

Collections

Select one or multiple Collections to display on your page. Collections can be displayed as Masonry, Grid, and Featured layouts to control how the collections are visually arranged.

Collection section settings include:

  • Featured Collection: When choosing Featured, you can display one Collection as a full-width featured Collection with a set of grid or masonry Collections after it.

  • Collection in top grid: When Featured is selected, you can display additional Collections below the Featured Collection in a styled grid. Select how many Collections should display in this layout in total, including the featured Collection.

Remaining Collections
  • Remaining Collection layout: Optionally display additional Collections below the Featured and Styled Grid. Choose from Masonry, Grid, or another Feature. You can even customize the header and subheader above these Collections.

  • Columns: Depending on your layout style, you can choose the columns for the remaining Collection layout.

Collection Slider

Add a single Collection to your page, displayed as a horizontally scrolling slider — a good option when you want to showcase a Collection's files without taking up much vertical space.

File

Add a single file from your workspace, anywhere on your page. You can add this into Columns in the Columns section, or as its own component. You can make the file downloadable directly from your Content Portal, and also select your display: Grid or Tile. Grid will contain file information; Tile will only display the image itself.

Content Portal - File ID

To add a file, copy the file's UUID from the three-dot menu in your workspace.

File Feed

File feed

Select a Collection and display a feed of files pulled from that Collection, which will update automatically as the Collection's contents change.

File Feed section settings include:

  • View: Select Grid, Masonry, or Tile. Grid will contain file information, while Masonry and Tile will show the full file without details.

  • Columns: For Grid view, select the column layout

  • Sort by: Choose from workspace sort options - Position (your workspace settings for this Collection), Date, or Name

  • Order: Ascending or Descending

  • Limit: Select the number of files from the Collection that should be displayed. If there are more than your selection, a 'See all files' button will appear on your portal page.

  • Collection download: Choose whether your Collection should be downloadable.

Video

Video Section

Add a video by placing a workspace file using its UUID or pasting in a URL from YouTube or Vimeo. To get a UUID, go to the video that you want to add, click the three-dot icon on the file, and select Copy ID.

You can select the width of the video in the container: Medium, Container, or Full Width.

Building a Content Portal

content portal page setup

Content Portal edit pages are made up of three areas

  • Sections sidebar (1)

  • Page builder (2)

  • Page and section settings (3)

To edit or build a page, you can drag and drop sections from the section sidebar into the page builder, and drag and drop sections within the builder. You can customize the page within the builder from the overall page settings. When you edit a specific section within the page builder, you can control that section's settings. Options such as Heading and Subheading, Alignment, Collection display, and more.
